FLORES JD-BCL/MBA

The JD/BCL-Flores MBA degree program is designed for students who intend to earn both a Juris Doctorate degree and an MBA concurrently. The degree is offered through the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the E. J. Ourso College of Business at LSU. Students earn overlapping credit hours and complete both degrees in four years versus completing them separately in five years (3 years for a JD and 2 years for an MBA).

Earning concurrent credits

Students earn 12 hours of credit toward the JD for courses completed in the Flores MBA program and 18 hours of credit toward the MBA for courses completed in the law school. The course credit is also counted toward the degree (JD or MBA) from the institution in which the courses were taken.

Although granting of concurrent credit may be referred to as a “joint degree program,” each degree is awarded separately. A student who successfully completes the required courses of study receives two degrees: a Juris Doctorate awarded by the LSU Hebert Law Center and a Master of Business Administration awarded by the E. J. Ourso College of Business. The only change in either degree program is the awarding of concurrent credit: a student pursues parallel degrees with common areas of study.
